From the Big Red Trolley to Bakery
The Blended Bakery has been serving the Lexington area from it's brick and mortar location on Sunset Blvd since 2020. It was started by DJ and Teresa Stone as a farm-to-table model offering more than your sweet shop variety of food and baked goods in hopes of blending two families into one. Their blended family all worked together toward a common goal of success, and their concept has been ever-evolving, from the big red trolley named Beulah to the upgraded dining room in 2022. However, the one thing that remains--everything is made from scratch in small batches using the freshest ingredients from many of the local vendors in the Lexington and Midlands area.
With the same vision for blended families and the love for the Lexington community, Heather Bruce, the pastry chef hired by DJ in 2021, found comfort and community at The Blended Bakery. She was allowed to fully embrace her love of baking and passion for cooking, garner her deep desire for excellent service, and discover a new way to serve the local community. Therefore, it was no surprise that when in July of 2023 that the opportunity presented itself, she and her own blended family assumed ownership of the Bakery. Together, Heather and her husband, Ryan work to continue the legacy DJ and Teresa began with their own whimsical sense of intention and purpose. The result has been the evolution into a quaint little European Brunch spot, offering a perfect blend of sweets and savories with experiences from High Tea Service to a dinner experience unlike any other.

Blended Since 2018
Heather and Ryan became a blended family in 2018. Together, they have 5 children --Payton, Lauren, Chloe, Calvin, and Kenedee.

Meet Heather, Executive Pastry Chef/Owner
Heather received degree in Culinary Arts and Baking and Pastries from the International Culinary School at the Art Institute of Charlotte after deciding at age 30 that she wanted to become a pastry chef. Her passion for all things in sweet and savory began with her exposure at an early age baking biscuits with her nanny and her first job as a biscuit maker at 15 introduced her to the restaurant industry. Although, Heather explored other career possibilities, her passion for baking was rediscovered when she began baking cakes in 2008.

A Whisk-y Business
After working as Pastry Chef for Dj and Teresa, Heather bought the bakery, and Dj passed the whisk over. Heather and Ryan became the new owners of the Blended Bakery on July 1, 2023
